Labor Market Summary: January 2022
After the wild ride that was 2020, we were all preparing and hoping for a smooth and calm 2021. That certainly wasn’t the case. Millions of jobs were added to the economy, but there were not millions of workers available to fill those jobs. This resulted in the most severe labor shortage in over 50 years.
2021 also brought the highest inflation rate in 40 years and supply chain issues that left store shelves empty and huge numbers of container ships waiting to be unloaded at ports on both coasts.
Will things get better in 2022? We can be pretty sure the labor shortage isn’t going away any time soon and may actually worsen. Of course, that directly impacts inflation and supply chain issues.
Although more unknowns await, employers can prepare for the challenges and opportunities of 2022 by understanding the following HR topics compiled by Affinity HR Group. Click here to view the full report.
